Refocus Specialist

Overview: Sarah A. Reed Children's Center supports children in the community through school-based resources such as Refocus Rooms, were students can get support with emotional, academic, and social concerns.

The Refocus Specialist will work in the Northwestern High School Refocus room to provide students with individual counseling, peer conflict resolution, tutoring and behavior re-focusing. Staff members are expected to practice the Sanctuary Commitments and utilize the S.E.L.F Model during daily interaction and crisis intervention. Other responsibilities include:

  • Writing behavior records
  • Compiling necessary documentation for the school district
  • Crisis de-escalation
  • Peer mediation
  • Interfacing with school district personnel

Work Hours: School year position - Monday thru Friday,7:00 am-3:00 pm, 40 hours/week

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in social services field required; a minimum of two years of prior related experience preferred. 

Requirements: 21 years of age or older; Ability to obtain clean clearance for FBI Fingerprints, Child Abuse, and PA Criminal History; Official transcripts and diploma to verify educational level. EOE.
