CASELOAD:
Elementary, Middle and High School students. All essential functions are conducted within the framework of cognitive, physical, social, and emotional aspects of the developmental stage.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:
To act as Refocus Specialist for TSELC Program at Hamilton. This position is responsible for the behavioral aspects of treatment and completes a variety of duties and assignments. This position provides behavioral support to students enrolled in the TSELC Program. This position works closely with the program supervisor, teachers, behavior technical instructors, and program case manager/therapist to ensure effective, safe, and coordinated services for all students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB: (other duties may be assigned)
1. Implement behavioral intervention programming in coordination with the Program Supervisor to ensure the efficient triage and behavioral interventions with students.
2. Implement technical lab assignments with goals, objectives, interventions and materials needed.
3. Monitor and oversee the management of classroom behaviors to ensure student safety.
4. Complete job related reports, notes, and documentation.
5. Support the safety initiatives of Sarah A. Reed Children's Center by adhering to safe work practices and identifying and reporting any safety risks to the Safety Committee immediately.
6. Attend trainings, in-services, meetings, and conferences as necessary and as directed.
OTHER DUTIES OF JOB:
1. Serve as substitute teacher as necessary.
2. Assist with academic planning.
3. Support program staff.
4. Prepare bulletin boards as needed.
5. Adhere to and promote a "customer service" model of interaction with other departments.
6. Perform other related duties as assigned and required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education/Training/License/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in social services or related field is required.
B. Work Experience:
Two years of related experience is required.
C. Conditions of Employment:
Act 33 and 34 Clearances
CPR Certification
SCM Training
Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. Knowledge of child/adolescent development, behavior, and peer relationships.
2. Working knowledge of contemporary methods of assessment and treatment of the seriously mentally ill.
3. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
4. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and manuals.
5. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
6. Requires flexibility, leadership skills, and good judgment.
7. Excellent documentation and observation skills.
8. Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
9. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the children, their families, other staff, and other agencies.
10. Knowledge of calculate figures and amounts and apply concepts to practical situations.
11. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
12. Ability to interpret a variety of written and oral instructions.
13. Ability to conduct self in a positive manner to serve as role model for staff and clients.
14. Must be a mandated reporter of child abuse.
15. Must be able to transport self and others.
16. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
17. Knowledge of and ability to use non-violent crisis intervention.
